Mujigae means rainbow, so my ancestors must have got the idea for the name from a rainbow! I love it! This is an example of how they incorporated natural beauty into their everyday life. Even though the name of the rice cake is “rainbow rice cake,” it is usually made with only 3-5 different colored layers. That’s why this rice cake is sometimes called “colorful rice cake” (색떡, saekddeok). In this recipe, I am using 5 different colors from bottom to top: brown, green, yellow, pink, and white. This rice cake is made on special occasions like a baby’s 1 year old birthday, or a wedding. As you see in this video, making this rice cake takes a lot of effort and time, even though the ingredients are comparatively simple. “Save the Children” is a song written by Al Cleveland, Renaldo Benson and Marvin Gaye and issued on Marvin’s 1971 album, What’s Going On. While not issued as a single in the US, the song was issued as a single by the Tamla-Motown label in the UK where it peaked at #41 on the Charts in December of 1971, whereas the other major US single releases initially failed to make a dent on the other side of the Atlantic. The song was a continuation of the message “What’s Going On” delivered, about love, this time, for the children. Marvin later joked on the liner notes of the album “not let (this song) influence anyone”. Marvin recorded both a spoken word recitation of the song and a vocal version mixing the two vocals together featuring Marvin’s soft-spoken vocals on one side and his expressive tenor on the other. The song would later be covered by Diana Ross in a medley featuring the jazz song, “Brown Baby”, on her 1973 album, Touch Me in the Morning. Marvin sung this song briefly while touring Europe in 1976 including the song as part of his What’s Going On medley.

at the 19th week of pregnancy Leannes water broke. Known as PPROM preterm premature rupture of membrane. The doctors said after PPROM 25% make it past the first week without going into labor. We would have to hold off delivering and infection for at least 5 weeks to have a chance. One day i asked the doctor what our chances were now that we made it past the first week. he told me it was impossible to give statistics due to every situation being different, but he would guess we had a 1 in 15 chance. We held off 11 weeks. This is our journey
